The “B” family 2012 holiday in numbers…
90+ holiday cards sent
80+ hours of online shopping
50+ hours of Christmas music played
12 - number of times I have worn fur, sequins or a combination of the two since Thanksgiving
10 bottles of wine consumed since Christmas Eve (you know, for visitors and such)
6 paper cuts from wrapping gifts
5 peppermint mochas enjoyed
4 rolls of wrapping paper
3 Christmas Vacation movie viewings
2 attempts to visit Santa
2 front teeth (incisors) for Little B showed up on Christmas Day (def not all he wanted, but not as bad as expected)
1 tree decorated (and redecorated by Little B)
1 car seat lost and found on our holiday flight
0 McDonald’s eggnog milkshakes (that was a tough one)
Again, many thanks to Allison for the amazing photography for our 2012 holiday card. There were so many great photos that I actually did two cards this year (this is my favorite one).
Hope you had a great day with family and friends!

A much needed arrival drink after a less than stellar travel experience (that includes a lost carseat…thanks, United). At any rate, no grinches here! So happy we are in Arizona to celebrate Christmas with both sides of the family (with the wine a flowin’). Little B is also loving a whole new set of toys…

Christmas past and present

Hard to believe that our Little B was so small (and stationary) just one year ago! I love that he shows interest in the tree, gifts and traditions this year.  It just keeps getting better and better. No need for gifts, Santa.  I have everything I need right here!

Well, our wrapped gifts under the tree didn’t quite make it a full week. Little B was anxiously pulling the bows off of the presents and poking holes in some of the oddly shaped ones hoping to get a peak of what was inside. Hence, we decided to conduct our “B” family Christmas tonight with a little Club Lucky fare and a bottle of Veuve (a tradition that dates back to two crazy single kids that would start and end the night with a bottle of the yellow labeled bubbly…ahem, now parents).

Little B’s favorite gift, by far, was the giant remote control Thomas the Train. Mr. B showed him how to work it once and he was infatuated (so much so that he busted into the bathroom with it to show me). We stretched his bedtime a half hour longer to allow more playtime. That’s what Christmas “vacation” is all about, right?

Now to sit back, admire the tree (that had been torn apart by a busy toddler) and toast another year of “B” family memories…not to mention one more day of cold, then it’s off to the desert for Christmas!

Cheers!

I’m fairly sure that all of Little B’s friends at Bubbles thought I was Santa today.  At least five little girls and guys insisted on sitting on my lap at some point during the class.  Perhaps it was the red pants and black boots?

Kids, I doubt Santa wears studs on his sweaters!  Although, maybe Mrs. Claus is a hip lady?

One of my favorite aspects of Christmas is visiting with friends we only see a few times a year. Now that (almost) everyone has kids, it’s even more fun watching them grow up.

At the kids’ holiday party this past weekend, Little B played with the “big kids” ( ages 2 - 8, but big to Little B). They loved showing him new tricks (one that included jumping on the guest room bed…um, no).

Santa made a guest appearance, but was only a hit with the bigger kids. The two year old yelled her Christmas wish list from another room and Little B shrieked when I placed him on Santa’s lap. I actually think he thought it was Mr. B dressed up and with a bit more facial hair. I understand how that could be scary…

I think we are going to take this year off for Santa visits until Little B is comfortable with large men with white beards. In the meantime, he is perfectly happy telling our “elf on the shelf” what he wants by putting his entire head in his mouth and yelling. Happy Holidays!

A little sparkle for the holidays…

I wore this festive, yet casual get-up this past weekend to a holiday party.  Little B got a kick out of the sequins on the top and referred to them as “bubbles.”  Good guess, little guy!

  • Leather-piped blazer: Elizabeth and James
  • Gold sequin shell: Ann Taylor
  • Silver and gold pumps: Prada (these are probably six years old and could use some “love” from the shoe doc, but I adore them and will wear them until the heels fall off)
  • Winter white cords: J Crew
  • Jaguar crystal-encrusted gold necklace: Alexis Bittar (not shown, but it was there and made the outfit)
