Have a seat!

I love chairs, especially those that are overstuffed or that boast interesting colors and fabrics.  Though I would rarely use it, I would love a “sitting area” in our next master bedroom or closet.  Let’s be honest, I’m sure it would collect clothing that I was too lazy to put away or laundry that needed to be folded, but I just adore the idea of sitting down to read a book or enjoy a cup of coffee in these little nooks.  Come to think of it, this is probably why Mr. B won’t let me have one now…it would either be an eye sore or I would really slack in the whole mother department as I would be far too busy drinking coffee and reading to tend to my child…

At any rate, don’t you just love these chairs?  While we’re at it, if I could also get that closet that accompanies the canary yellow one, that would be great.

Black and white

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been following the NYFW coverage and I’m salivating at all of the great dresses and separates that will be coming our way. It’s motivating to make me truly edit my closet and add in some fun pieces that I’ll actually wear (especially given my goal of simplifying my wardrobe).

While I love a bright, colorful print, black and white seems to be everywhere lately (and judging from NYFW, doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon). Although, I would be lying if I didn’t absolutely love it in prints and patterns the most (how much do you love those pants!?). Here are a few black and white pieces I’m loving to wear now and to ease into warmer temps (you know, around Memorial Day):

One of my “goals” for 2013 is to simplify my wardrobe. Mostly black and white (basic neutrals) with small pops of color. It will be so much easier to get dressed in the morning and everything will match! I started (early) today with my new Alexander McQueen scarf (courtesy of Santa) paired with a fitted black leather jacket. Of course, I am also sporting mustard yellow denim, so let’s see how long this lasts…
