Navigating motherhood beyond Six Corners

3 notes

Motivated by the amazing weather on Sunday, we high-tailed it over to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The main reason was to check out the Bump Club birthday bash that was being held, but we also wanted to allow Little B to explore the butterfly haven and other interactive exhibits (as interactive as a 5 month old can be).  It was also an excuse to visit the lakefront. We strapped him in the Bjorn and entered the controlled chaos that was the party.  Little B loved the music, balloons and people/baby watching. I loved the kid-friendly sushi provided for snacking - rice crispy treats in the shape of nigiri wrapped with fruit roll-ups and topped with swedish fish.  Almost too cute to eat! The butterfly haven was perfect for our little explorer - with the swarming butterflies, dangling plants and gurgling fountains, he didn’t know what to look at first.  Of course, I had to help him throw his first penny into a fountain to make a wish! I’m sure it had something to do with a warm bottle…

We ended our excursion with the aquatic animals.  Little B loved the goldfish!  He followed them intently, concentrating on the flashes of orange and yellow, diligently trying to get into the tank.  I think I foresee a fish tank in our future…

Up next…The Field Museum to show Little B where mom and dad were married! He’s ready for dinosaurs and elephant tusks, right?
